There are different types of surgeries available, specific to the cause of your infertility. Following are the most common procedures and most are performed under general anaesthesia.

• Varicocelectomy is performed to correct varicoceles, which occur when veins in the scrotum swell up. The surgery is usually performed laparoscopically and begins with the doctor making a few small incisions in your lower abdomen, through which the scope to visualize the inside of your body is passed. Then a few small incision near your groin are made, through which surgical tools can reach the enlarged veins and cut them. Following this, the ends of these veins are either cauterized or clamped. Lastly, all incisions are stitched back together.

• Vasectomy Reversa aims to reverse a vasectomy by reconnecting the vas deferens, which are ducts that allow the sperm to move from the epididymis during ejaculation.

• Epididymovasostomy or a vasoepididymostomy is a microsurgery procedure. This surgery aims to repair blockages in the epididymis.

• Ejaculatory Duct Resection is carried out by inserting a cystoscope into your urethra to remove any blockages that may be causing your infertility by obstructing the movement of the sperms.

• Microsurgical testicular sperm extraction is carried out for men who have an extremely low sperm count. During the procedure, the surgeon will make small incisions on your scrotum to determine whether there are any healthy tissue harbouring sperm. If this is the case, the sperm will be extracted to use for fertility treatments. Lastly, the incisions will be closed.
