Laser Lipolysis
Laser lipolysis is a non-invasive procedure for removing body fat. By using fiber-optic lasers, stubborn fat pockets such as love handles, or on the lower belly and chin can be effectively ‘melted’. The melted fat is then metabolized by the body, leaving a sculpted and taut area behind.

What Are the Steps of the Procedure?
A laser lipolysis procedure involves the following steps:
1. Your doctor will make surgical markings on the areas that need to be treated. Following this, the surgeon will make small incisions through which you will receive local anaesthesia. The laser will also be inserted here through a cannula or a small tube.
2. As the procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, you will be awake throughout the treatment and other than some minor pressure you will not feel any pain.
3. The doctor moves the laser in the area to be treated to melt the fat in a way that will leave behind a well sculpted area. The melted fat is either metabolized by your own body or extracted like is done in a traditional liposuction.
4. After the area has been treated, the small incisions are then closed up. A similar process is then carried out if you are undergoing the treatment in other areas as well.
What Should I Expect From This Procedure?
Laser lipolysis or ‘Laser lipo’ as it is commonly known, is not a weight loss procedure. It is not suitable for people who are very overweight or obese. Laser lipolysis is effective for people who are looking to get rid of persistent pockets of fat quickly.Have an initial consultation with your surgeon before undergoing the procedure. It is essential to make your goals and motivations clear to the surgeon, so that the best possible results can be achieved.
The treatment is not effective for large areas. Most surgeons recommended combining laser lipolysis with the traditional liposuction. Popular areas for laser liposuction are - lower belly (muffin top), waist (love handles), thighs, buttocks, back, neck and face. Laser lipolysis is not permanent, and to maintain your results make sure to follow a good diet and a regular exercise regimen.
